We mainly use the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as an excellent model organism for our study. S. cerevisiae is widely used for bread making and brewing Japanese sake and wine, as one of the most useful and human-friendly microorganims.
Stress
All organisms are frequently exposed to various types of stress in their lives. In order to maintain their vital activities, organisms have to adapt to stress and environmental changes adequately. We are intently studying and trying to clarify the mechanisms underlying stress response and stress tolerance using S. cerevisiae.
